Wiltshire Providing Free Meals for Eligible children

Whilst Salisbury’s MP did not vote for Salisbury or Wilton’s children to receive government funded free meals for eligible children, Wiltshire Council has decided to provide free meals for those eligible families during the October half term holiday. Many families, who any other year would have managed perfectly fine, are struggling under the weight of the Covid-19 pandemic. Wilton HELP! feels strongly that families and children who need support at this time should be able to access this. But we do not know if people are aware of the scheme or how to apply for this – or whether applying for this actually provides the support in a timely manner.

The scheme is facilitated by the Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub Team, who can be contacted by email: or by calling 0300 003 4576. They are available to provide information regarding application Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. The scheme is for anyone entitled to free school meals or universal credit and finding the cost of food a challenge over half term.

Wilton HELP! want to understand whether the scheme is accessible and responsive for our residents. Please help us to understand the situation by completing this anonymous questionnaire.
